You can expect to explore and adventure in Costa Rica, relax and renew your spirit, create new friendships, and develop the tools to find a deeper sense of well being which will follow you back home to enrich your every day life.
Our group sizes depend on which trip you are joining. Usually we average 20 people for an intimate and unique experience. It reflects our desire at Free Spirit Retreats for having a high-quality teacher to student ratio while keeping in mind the joy and community that can come from a certain size group
You must book your flight to San Jose airport (SJO) Costa Rica. Ground transportation from and to airport is included. Specific information about ground transportation from airport to Free Spirit Retreats and other general information will be provided to you by mail after you sign up for the retreat.
Upon the balance for your participation is paid, you will receive a welcome message with general trip information. As the date approaches you will receive trip reminders and specifics relevant to your retreat.
You should generally bring: yoga mat, yoga towel, sunscreen, comfortable clothes and shoes, sunglasses, book, mosquitos repellent, reusable water bottle, beach towel, hiking shoes (only needed for the waterfall hike), and a little sense of exploration!
It is really NOT needed. In Costa Rica you can pay everything and everywhere with US Dollars and regarding the retreats all the extra activities that you might be interested in are priced in US Dollars.
Most of the activities are included in the package. However you might want to apply for extra activities (surf, waterfalls hike, zipline, national park tour) that have to be paid in cash and in US Dollars by the time you are at the retreat. Basing on our experience we suggest to bring around $500 to enjoy some of the extra activities, buy some snack at the grocery, buy some souvenirs, leave some tips to the staff that make your vacation even more amazing (typically kitchen crew, surf instructor, shuttle drivers, park rangers and tour guide). You don’t have to exchange money to local currency as soon as you save cash you just bring it back home. Regarding credit cards, VISA and Master Card are accepted everywhere, American Express very difficult to be accepted
Yes! About half our participants come alone and often come away with lifelong friends. If you’re traveling alone, a yoga retreat is the best way to meet new people with similar interests in a safe and healthy environment.

You must take responsibility to be at the meeting point and the designated time to meet your Free Spirit Retreat representative for transportation to the location. You will receive meeting location and timing after you pay your Balance together with all the general information about your trip. You can always request support booking for your transfer if you arrive outside the parameters of the retreat schedule.
“Travel insurance is highly suggested. The life we live everyday has no guarantees and we at Free Spirit Retreats cannot see future. Purchase your travel insurance within a week of purchasing your plane flight. We highly recommend that you add, “cancel for any reason” to your policy. Although normal trip cancellation will cover you for illness or injury, or for a travel companions illness, injury or death, it is limited to these. With “cancel for any reason” you will receive a percentage (usually 75%-100%) of all pre-paid costs. With this coverage if something comes up, a wedding, a new job opportunity, injury or illness or other unforeseen reasons, you will be covered.”
